Pyrros Bamichas
Assistant
Professor
of
Music History, University of Athens. He was born in Athens in 1969. He holds a
Ph.D. in Historical Musicology awarded by the University of Athens (2002).
After three years of postgraduate studies at the University of Birmingham (U.K.),
he was awarded the degrees of M.A
in Musicology (1996) and M.Phil
in Baroque Paleography and Editing (1998). He is also a graduate of the
University of Piraeus (Department of Economics) and of the ‘National
Conservatory’ (Diploma in Theory of Music). He is currently working on two
international projects, concerning the production of critical editions of high
Renaissance (CMME) and early Baroque music (ASCIMA), in cooperation with the
University of Utrecht, and the Universities of Birmingham, Heidelberg and Rome,
respectively. As a Lecturer, he also taught at the Music Department of the
School of Fine Arts at the Aristotle University of Salonica (2004-2005).
