Ilias Giannopoulos
He studied piano at the Athens Conservatory. In 1990 he was awarded the diploma in pianoforte with “excellence”. He also studied music theory with the distinguished Greek composer Michael Travlos. From 1990 to 1996 he studied musicology and philosophy at the
Albert Ludwigs University in Freiburg i.Br. He graduated in 1996 with Magister Artium. He also studied piano with Professor Michael Leuschner and Edith Picht-Axenfeld. He undertook piano seminars with G. Ganev and Paul Badura-Skoda and performed in chamber music concerts, mainly 20th century music. Since 1999, when he was employed for the research of the music archive of Mikis Theodorakis, he works for the
Music Library Lilian Voudouri (Athens Concert Hall) as responsible for acoustical and optical acquisitions and as editor of the abstracts of books. As writer of texts and analyses he collaborates with the editions-department of the
Athens Concert Hall, with the Athens Festival, the Ensemble Skalkottas, the newspaper
To Vima, the record-company Intuition/Schott and other music institutions.
